Head Coach Dean Washington - Northland
Coach Dean Washington has coached his entire career in the Central District, 33 years strong. He has coached at Marion Franklin, Watkins Memorial and Northland. His current record is 451-301 for a career .600 winning percentage.
One of his proudest moments as a coach includes leading his team to the City League Championship in 1990. He was named City League Coach of the Year in 1990 and 2018. Fifteen of his players have moved on to play college baseball including two of his sons.
Dean noted that none of this would have been possible without his family’s support. Family members include Joy Washington, Ryan Washington, Patrick Washington, Benjamin Washington and Mallory Washington.
When asked what he enjoyed the most about coaching in the Central District, his answer was simply teaching kids the finer points of the game. Hopefully, these young men can then teach their sons about the finer points of the best game in America. One of his proudest moments of this amazing coaching career is just being known as “Coach”. The fact that after 33 years, players return to visit just to see if Coach is still around! Most importantly to Coach Washington, the past players still call you by the title of “Coach”.
On behalf of the Central District Baseball Coaches Association, we welcome and congratulate Coach Dean Washington to the HOF class of 2019.

Coach Tony Cleveland - Watterson
Tony Cleveland has been coaching baseball for 40 years. He has coached in the Central District for 22 years. His coaching stints have included Bishop Watterson, Dublin Coffman and Johnstown-Monroe. As a head coach, he has a combined 71-67 record with a CCL championship in 2009. For the last decade, he has always been found in the state clinic selling tee shirts and gear for the OHSBCA.
Tony has been an ambassador to the game of baseball at the state and national level. Awards include Assistant Coach of the Year: AFLAC (National), NHSBCA (twice), OHSBCA and CDBCA. He has served through the chairs of the CDBCA for three years. He has been an OHSBCA board member for two years. He has coached numerous players that have made it to the professional level. These players include Gabe Kapler, Seth Willoughby, Austin Cousino, Justin Segal, Stacy Kliener and Dave Leeper.
Tony has enjoyed the camaraderie and friendships of coaches the most while serving as a coach in Central District. He has enjoyed teaching the importance of God, family and baseball while running his programs. He truly loves seeing the kids learn about discipline and respect while playing this great game. He has seen this game turn boys into young men and prepare them for the next step of life, with or without baseball.
Tony currently resides in Dublin and is joined today with his wife Mimi Rousseau. Tony has five children: Justin, Jason, Bjorn, Charmagne and Jeff. He also has nine grandchildren: Daylan, Kayli, Clark, Aubrey, Nina, Hayden, Evan, Cheyenne and Eva.
